多くの人々が、このシステムは児童虐待やネグレクトであり、子供時代の権利を奪うものであると主張しています。
しかし、政府は、今世紀の古い伝統を続けるために、この伝統を支持し続けてきました。
クマリは、全国民に幸運をもたらすと考えられています。
しかし、今では大きく変わりました。
たとえば、今ではクマリは家庭教育が受けられるようになり、多くの元クマリが、正式な機関で、追って勉強ができるようになりました。
以前は、元クマリは夫がすぐに死んでしまうと考えられていたため、結婚が許されませんでした。しかし、最近ではこれらは誤っているということがわかり、普通の結婚生活が送れるようになりました。
彼女たちは王室のように扱われる一方で、一旦その期間が終わってしまうと、何の社会的その他スキルも持たず、一般人としての生活を送るサポートもなく、突然社会に出されてしまうことは、もちろん気の毒に思います。
私は、クマリになるための規則がもっとゆるやかになり、後々彼女たちが社会に適応できるよう、もっとサポートしてあげてほしいと願っています。

私はクマリについて、今回初めて知りました。予備知識がなかったので、難しかったです。
こんなことがあるんだ！と知って、ちょっとびっくりしました。
クマリってどれくらいの割合で選ばれるんでしょうか？街で何人とか？決まっているんでしょうか？
宗教的なものですが、教育や結婚などの機会が奪われたりするのは良くないと思うので、ミニーの言うとおり、今後改善されていくといいなと思います。

Many people have voiced their opinion that this system is kind of child abuse or negligence and devoiding them of their right to childhood.
But the government has supported to keep this tradition alive in order to continue with our centuries old tradition. Kumari is thought to bring good luck for the entire nation.
But a lot has changed now.
For example, now Kumaris are home schooled and many ex-Kumaris are actually pursuing studies in a formal institute.
Before ex-Kumaris were not allowed to marry as it was believed that the husband will die soon. But ex-Kumaris these days have proved this wrong and are living a normal married life.
Of course I sympathize with Kumaris because they are treated like royals and once their tenure is over, they are send in the society without any social or other skills and support to live their life suddenly as a commoner.
I wish the rules of being Kumari would be less stricter with more support for them to be able to adjust in society later on.
